Every neighbourhood resident traded, strategized to build as quickly as possible to gain as many points as possible towards the final count. Definitely some game play will change for this final round. Here are the standings after round 1. 1 Panhandle 2 Dogpatch 3 Merced Manor The top 3 neighbourhoods will receive a custom statue explorer reflective to their area marking their success in round 1.

1/1/2021 0 Comments THE BATTLE HAS BEGUN!!!As of Jan 01, 2021 the Upland Neighbourhood Sandbox Wars Round 1 are off. 10 Neighbourhoods building towards claiming the Neighbourhood Championship Title These competing groups; University Mound, Alamo Square, Chinatown, Dogpatch, Downtown Union Square, Little Hollywood, Merced Manor, Panhandle, Telegraph Hill and Visitation Valley are in the running for the first competition Title. What is it all about? Build alliances: Communicate with regional partners. Create a strategy: After building your alliance, you can plot your game strategy to achieve the best gains. Build: Construct according to the resources you have on your own properties. Each player is given a fixed amount of Spud (a predecessor token to a new token coming later in the year) used to build properties. Templates of different structures are available, each requiring a certain amount of time to complete. Unlike the Sandbox Practice where you can speed up your builds with UPX (in game currency), in this competition that feature is unavailable. However during the practice all the properties were removed, in this competition the properties remain. Each structure has a point value, these points will be added towards the total value for the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood with the most points wins. A snapshot of property builds beginning in the Little Hollywood neighbourhood. But, wait there is a counterpoint structure. A cell tower, this not only reduces the overall total point value but also can nullify property points within a certain radius. So plan wisely. LOL

LOL 12/27/2020 0 Comments UPLAND - BUILDING IS HERE!!The much anticipated game feature has arrived in #Upland or at least in testing/practice mode with a mini game called Sandbox Wars Practice. More about it here. What does this mean? Property builds!! If you have been following any news in regard to this growing sector within the blockchain gaming industry, you would have stumbled upon various virtual land ownership non fungible tokens (NFTs). Games like Cryptovoxel, Decentraland and The Sandbox (not to be mistaken for Upland’s Sandbox Wars Practice) running on the Ethereum blockchain have already grown significantly within their few years of operation. Upland, one of the newer games in this sector running on EOS blockchain is looking to achieve more ambitious goals. As per their website, it is about ‘Rebuilding the World’. What’s the big deal here? The sandbox feature will finally allow players to build on their property. The sandboxing is a constraining element to keep the game’s look and design uniformed. As well as establishing what can and cannot be done during a build. Like manufacturing, or general design fundamentals, if you want to maintain a level of authenticity and performance controls some constraints are necessary. And like most things, in the beginning the features for building are basic, but in the future, there will likely be more enhancements as time moves on. Similar to the virtual real estate market, the construction element mirrors real world development and timing. A structure can take one hour or several hours to complete. You start off with some SPUD, the token required for building. The amount of SPUD you have determines how long your structure takes to complete. However, you can also purchase more SPUD with UPX to speed the construction process along if you like. One major plus is the ease to which any player can use the sandbox to build. There are predefined templates (more to come of course) for players to choose which structure they wish to build and the ability to change a few basic elements. This removes barriers to participate, no need to learn any complex software. Allowing the initial sandbox to grow in complexity in an organic manner as players skills and feature requests arise. The other major plus when the full version is released, is bringing in player activity and interest. Tasks to achieve if they so choose or observing the progress of others.
And lastly this also means business development and governance is not too far off in the future. Imagine each time you login, you will see random builds happening around the city of San Francisco. As most blockchain games, it’s 24/7. I’ve been involved in Upland for over a year, and this solidifies the direction Upland is heading. I have been practicing with the Sandbox-Sandbox, if for nothing else but the test out building tools and building timeline. NFTs in 2021 will continue to dominate the micro economic scene. It stands for the Fair Start Act, by providing new/casual players to the game a sort of a head start. More about FSA here. This opening will be the first test of the FSA in action. Granting the new players an opportunity to enter into the metaverse of Upland without feeling locked out from gameplay due to the large percentage of sold properties in the bigger cities such as San Francisco and Manhattan. An opportunity to scope the game mechanics including the 10 collections available that help boost monthly earnings (yield) without spending a lot of the in-game currency called UPX. The parcels (lots) are priced according to real life economics, making Fresno a far less expensive city to purchase from than Manhattan. However, I think Fresno city opening offers something even more. An onboarding introduction to blockchain gaming (ownership) as well as, an introduction to the ecosystem of NFTs – Non-Fungible Tokens. Upland has done all the heavy lifting so you don’t have to. A blockchain wallet integrated into the game running in the background. You can still see have access to all of your transactions if you are ever that curious. Once the FSA has reached its goal and opens for everyone the only way to get there will be by train if your explorer is in San Francisco or by plane and train if you are in Manhattan.
